Terminology.

High culture:
  • making/ writing their own stuff
  • bands considered better than another band
Low culture:
  • don't write or make own music
  • One Direction
  • Busted
  • Justin Bieber
Postmodernism challenges the barriers however some bands using intertextuality e.g. Weezer using samples from other bands, can be seen as high because they know they are taking other people's work to take the mick.

Structial unity: Order and structure in songs
Example of distain for structural unity: Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody

Totalizing forms genres changing within an album or artists style changing from different album

Juxaposition - putting to things closely together to show contrast and similarity.
